Valentines Day 2025
It's not long now until that multi-million dollar spending nightmare that is valentines day. It's one of those holidays that hasn't ever really meant that much to me. For the longest time it used to be a source of disappointment and then, for me anyway, I saw it as a vacuous marketing exercise taxed to guilt people into spending money doing something they should be doing regularly anyway - all at hugely inflated prices (yeah I know I'm very romantic). That said I have enjoyed a few valentine's days over the years. Anyway, I'm pretty lucky, my wedding anniversary is not long after valentines and a very long time ago my wife and I decided we'd rather celebrate that instead. That makes it extra special, I also made it a rule not to cash in on half price roses, chocolates etc. Tempting as it is. This year is going to be a big one. So big in fact that besides my kids it's my biggest achievement and I really can't think of a better person to be reaching it with.
